Peter Barker writes: I have come across some photos of what may have been the last show produced by Convergence at Harrow County. This was the so-called New Convergence formed after the original was forced to close due to the introduction of boys to what had been the girl's school. We were forced to look to Bentley Wood (Herriot's Wood) school for our women thereafter!
The performance consisted of an evening of Victorian Melodramas produced by Andy Kelso. I seem to remember that there were four, but it might have been three. The year would be either 1975 or 1976.
Part of the publicity/advertising for the show consisted of a short scene played out during the school assembly. It included me receiving a custard pie in the face - probably the first and last time such an event occurred.
The following four photographs were taken either during the show or during rehearsals. I'm afraid I cannot remember the names of any of the plays. I think that the photos were taken by Alan Southcombe (aka Brush). Perhaps someone else out there may be able to fill in a few of the gap.
1. Scene from rehearsal, with Andy Kelso as the Chairman, Peter Cowburn with the feather duster, Colin Price (Acted under the name of C. Francis Price) with the beer bottles, and myself (Peter Barker) in the bowler hat.
2. Rehearsal shot from one of the other plays, with Caroline Horowitz and me as a leering butler.
3. The custard pie in assembly - Andy, Colin & me, with a teacher, Don McEwen, in the background.
4. Another rehearsal scene - unknown female, Russell Newmark, Colin and me.
