Rugby Tour of Wales 1953

This photograph was contributed by Peter Smith, who writes:
Thought you might be interested in the attached photo of a tankard which I still have and which celebrated a rugby tour of Wales in 1953. It was fired at the Ewenny Pottery near Bridgend and you will see it is engraved HCRFC 1953. We visited Ewenny which is the oldest pottery in Wales and still appears to be going strong. We also went down a coal mine.  I dont remember a great deal about the tour otherwise apart from the fact that we played against a Welsh school in warm up game before a Llanelly club match at Stradey Park, which was quite an experience in itself.  The tour was led by Gerwyn Williams who died last year and my partner in the centre in those days was David Sheriff who I was really sorry to see died as recently as July.  He was a great mate and a superb rugby player.
I wonder if there is anyone else around who remembers that tour?
