Ames, T G
Anderton, D J  (1929-35.  Form VA 1933-34.  In the Forces, July 1941.  Colin Dickins writes (2004): "Denis 'Andy' Anderton spent his working life as a public Health officer in Harrow and retired with wife Rene to Spain.  They subsequently returned when he contracted cancer and he died about 12 or 14 years ago.  Keen rugby player, he suffered a detached retina one week, played the next regardless and subsequently lost the sight of one eye.  Although he had a selection of artificial eyes (which he occasionally used to play tricks on people), he mostly wore a black patch.  With his "full set" ginger beard and moustache he had a distinctly piratical style.")

Carroll, J W  (1929-36.  John Carroll was in Form VA 1932-33.  Passed London Matriculation with Honours and General School Exam, 1933.  Deputy Prefect, January 1934.  Passed Higher Schools Examination, with Inter Science, Engineering Exemption, 1935.  Passed Higher Schools Examination with Inter-Science Exemption, 1936.  Played Centre in Rugby 1st XV, 1935.  School Captain 1935-36, Scholarship Award in Engineering to Kings College, London.  In the Forces in December 1939.  He had a distinguished career in the London Electricity Board (?) and has been prominent in Middlesex rugby and the London Society of RFU Referees.  (He has, writes Colin Dickins,  an elegant turn of phrase.  His speech on retirement as President of the OGRFC was a succinct masterpiece.)  His father was a ticket collector at Northwood station.  Married to Margaret for over 60 years.)

Constable, K R  (1929-33. In the Forces, December 1939.  K R "Bobby" Constable attended the 2002 OGA Dinner.  His wife Marjorie died after a long illness in about 2001.  Bobby Constable was a (minor!) bank manager and is a past Chairman of the OGA (1957-?).  He was very involved with International Rotary for some years after retirement)

Phillips, L J  (Leslie Phillips was in Form VA in 1932-33.  His article "The Summer Term" was published in The Gaytonian, May 1933.  He passed London Matriculation with Honours and General School Exam, 1933.   Leslie Phillips served in the Army in the Cheshire Regt.  He qualified in medicine at UCH in l956. He then trained as an otolaryngologist and emigrated to Canada in that capacity in l959, working in Medicine Hat, Alberta until his retirement in l985, when he moved to Vancouver Island.)

Robinson, D J (This is Douglas "Cardew" Robinson, the entertainer.  1929-34.  Form VD 1932-33.  In the Forces in February, 1942.  Colin Dickins writes:  "Stories of Cardew Robinson are legion and often very funny - he couldn't help it, even when he was deadly serious.  He and I drove down to celebrate Beaky Fooks's 100th birthday together and he died soon after in hospital where he went for a "routine" operation.  He was a brilliant after-dinner speaker and a professional speech writer for many years - often for fellow pros, although he would never tell you whom.  He attended OGA dinners whenever professional engagements allowed and would give us free what he charged a lot of money for professionally.  Enormously good company.  He was always known to his contemporaries as Dougie, but he switched to Cardew as his stage career developed and once bit my nose of for calling him Dougie when we were playing cricket together.")
