Art Room 1914 - Headmaster Ernest Young sends a postcard

(This postcard was purchased for the Archives by the Old Gaytonians Association and scanned by Alex Bateman, OGA Archivist.)

This is a postcard sent to a former pupil, who is serving in the Army in the First World War by the Headmaster, Mr. Ernest Young.  The picture is of the school Art Room, taken in approximately 1914, when the school was three years old.  It is addressed to '6617 Dr {driver] Venning, 3a Battery HAC (Honourable Artillery Company), D Lines, Bulford Camp, Salisbury Plain, WILTS'.   Venning was one of three Venning brothers who served during WW1 and survived.  +

The sender writes 'Thanks for your note as to change of address.  Stick this on the wall of your hut, it may remind you of many things - pleasant or unpleasant. E Young'
